Sorry, I had to do it. Being I like to joke around, when I saw the above toastmasters image I had to put it in my post.
I joined Toastmasters about six months ago. Quite honestly I should have joined sooner. I am learning more about myself and some of the things which I do or say which I need to improve.
Thankfully I was introduced to the club I belong to a little over a year ago at a technology event. Being I enjoy learning about (as well as talking about) technology it was a good fit for me. - Public speaking
- Making Presentations
- Communicating with non-technical people
- Impromptu speaking skills
Thanks to Techmasters I have been more comfortable and confident in client visits and presentations. Last week I was able to host a 30 minute discussion and slide show presentation in front of 50 people (clients and co-workers). I am confident I would not have felt as comfortable during my discussion/presentation had it not been for the practice and guidance I have gained from my local Toastmasters club.
I strongly encourage you to stop by a meeting. It doesn’t take that much time or preparation. Who knows you might actually like it. I am confident you will meet a lot of great people who will make you stretch out of your comfort zone. My hope is that you will wish you joined sooner too.
