A little vacation

August 17, 2010

Last week my wife and I went on a vacation for a few days to spend some time with a few friends.  IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!  We put nearly 1,000 miles on our motorcycle in five days.

We made our way out to Sturgis, SD.  If you haven’t been able to make it out for the motorcycle rally, I would recommend it.  It certainly isn’t a family trip during “the rally,” but you will get to meet many interesting people.

Just say “bikers” and what comes to mind:

Sure there are many stereotypes about bikers, but I am proud to be one of them.  Yes, I do ride a Harley and I may have a tattoo, but there are bikers out there who would give you the clothes off your back if you asked.

How many times have you been driving in your car and you seen two motorcycles pass going the opposite direction?  Do you notice that most of the time they wave at each other? No, they probably don’t know each other.  It is just what is done and I am happy to continue the tradition.

While driving into Wyoming, my friend’s motorcycle stopped working properly so we pulled over  to take a look to find out what was wrong.  Within a matter of minutes we had 4-5 bikers stop to ask if they could help and offered us their tools to use as we didn’t have any with us.  The bike was fixed in about 20 minutes thanks to their help.

I know not everyone makes it home from Sturgis, which is a shame.  I hope all who ride wear helmets and continue to ride safe.
