Earlier this week I was walking out of my bedroom wearing a Harley Davidson T-shirt, jeans and my black Harley boots.
Tatum, who is eight, was watching television on the couch. She turned away from the television for a moment and asked me if I was going to ride my motorcycle. I told her, “yes,” as I was planning on going for a my first ride of the spring/summer.
“Make sure you wear your helmet,” is what she told me. I told her I would. To which she said, “please be careful.”
It melted my heart. As a parent you don’t get enough of those moments. I am the one who is supposed to be looking out for her and she is the one who is looking out for me.
I gave her a hug and told her I would be back in a little while.
To those who are riding their motorcycles, please “make sure you wear your helmet.”
